LAWYER FOR UPDATING YOUR WILLAt Neufeld Legal PC, we understand that one's last will & testament isn't a static document, but should be subject to change as life changes. There are numerous major changes that occur during one's life that may precipitate the need to change one's last will & testament and/or powers of attorney, such that making those changes is beneficial to protecting one's actual intention with respect to their testamentary decisions and estate. Changes that could effect the need for changes to one's last will & testament and/or powers of attorney include: - the death or other resulting incapacity/inability of one or more potential executors, attorneys or guardians to fulfill their specified role - the removal and/or inclusion of individuals to fulfill designated roles, be it executors, attorneys or guardians, whether for legitimate or purely personal reasons - alterations in distribution structure and/or specific bequests as result of changes to one's personal assets or rethinking of the methodology for distribution - changes in the circumstances of one's intended beneficiaries, whether additional needs (i.e., disability, sickness) require the commitment of additional resources to that individual (or a modification of the distribution model) or restrictions are sought to be imposed (i.e., due to drug use, alcoholism, criminality) Whatever the reason, one should look at bringing the legal documents into conformity with one's intention. Otherwise, your best intentions will be for naught, and your last will & testament and powers of attorney will not effectively protect and advance your interests for your family.
